Rain, rain, go away! My hair is gunna frizz!

I am not afraid to say it. I am one of those girls that will cry a little mascara tear when she needs to sprint out to the car when it's raining. My hair is my baby, my child, my best feauture. Though I had good and bad days with my hair, I always show it love and don't want anything bad to happen to it. So, when it's raining, I am not into having my perfectly straight hair become all kinds of wavy, or having my spring curls turn into mass balls of frizz. Mama don't spend a half hour on her hair for that crap to happen. No sir.

Since it has been hurricaning over here on the eastcoast, and the aftermath of rain and awful wind is still very much present, I need a way to protect my hair from being all kinds of crazy. So, I decided that the perfect hairstyle for rain is a bun!

1. Lauren Conrad || Lauren's bun is the classic "ballerina bun" has become one of my favorite go-to hairstyles because it's totally easy to execute and it's supah cute! This girl doesn't have a lot of time to get ready before classes so wrapping my hair up and adding a few bobby pins and running out the door is my kind of hair do.

2. Miley Cyrus || We all know about the "Miley Bun" which is pretty much Miley just making a messy bun look totally fabulous. I wish that when I flopped a bun on my head I looked as chic as Milerz.

3. Demi Lovato || Demi's bun is a lot like Lauren mixed with Miley. It's a twisted ballerina bun with a little mess in it and I totally think that the color in her hair makes for a super cool bun. (tip: chalk pastels make for a quick little color streak!)

These are some of my go-to buns, because I am so not into braiding this, twisting that, shoving twelve bobby pins over here and pinning this little hair back in Guam. Mama don't play that game.

What are your rainy day hair-dos?

Forget going to the gym; I want chocolate.

It happens to the best of us. It happens to all of us.
We all have those days where we don't give two craps what we look like and we just want to lay in bed, eat chocolate and spend time with our two favorite men; Ben & Jerry. Well my friends, it's that kind of day for me. I have spent the entire morning lounging in my bed, eating Chips Ahoy and watching America's Next Top Model, wishing I looked like them, then crying about how I am not skinny and no one loves me. You know, the usual things that come through a girls mind.

I was texting with my bestie Michele and we were both talking about how we are depressed and hate our lives. This is what you get when you mix post-hurricane fever with PMS, ladies & gentz.

We are such pathetic humans, I know. Continue to judge us.
We are two lonely besties who want to be happy.

All I want is a tall man to show up at my door with five Hershey's Cookies & Cream chocolate bars, a few Redboxed movies and a Dunkin Donuts pumpkin latte and say "hey baby, let's cuddle."
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!

Link-up: Weekend Update.

Since my brain has decided to be a little pain in the butt this weekend and not let me think of things that I can blog about, I decided that for today I would do a link-up; because those are always fun anyway!

Friday started my weekend off on a good foot you could say. I have gotten into the habit of spending atleast a half hour alone on a Friday morning. I leave for class an hour early, which gives me enough time to grab a coffee and a pumpkin muffin from DD (I am addicted!) and then park in the emptiest parking lot on campus and just sit in my car and listen to a CD or morning radio and just spend that time alone. I am usually not an alone person for the most part, I love being around people, but my Friday morning "me-time" helps me get ready for the crazy work weekends I always have, where I am always surrounded by people. It's a nice little step back. I went to my only class which is my theater class and it was a ton of fun! We were broken up into groups and had to make up choreography for thirty seconds of "Want U Back" by Cher Lloyd. Funniest thing ever! My classmate Aaren and I are the only two that had previous dance experience so we got on those moves like pros! Yeah buddy, I can jazz square with the best of 'em, HOLLA! After class I headed to work until close, which is six oh clock. It wasn't an awful day, but it was a day at work. I came home and ate a big bowl of fresh pasta and alfredo sauce - work is good for some amazing dinners ;) I am pretty sure I fell asleep at like, 9:30. Ya know, cause I am a grandma.

Saturday is just always the day were nothing happens, yet so much happens. I am at work open to close, which pretty much shoots out any chances of doing anything. My co-worker and bestie, Michele, had the day off and I wanted to hunt her down and stangle her because she wasn't working. I literally don't really talk to anyone else besides her, so I guess I had to expand my horizions. That's garbage, if you ask me. The morning went alright, one of my co-workers who is valet came in during the morning to buy a few things and I talked with him and he told me I was his favorite cashier. D'aw, gotta love that boy! I had a very classy and elegant lunch break with my co-worker/big brother/little brother/bestie Freddie, in the back dumpsters behind the store. We sat on milkcrates and ate potato chips. It was all very clean and sanitary :X I got the best surprise ever when I looked at the door at around four oh clock and saw my best friend, Lindsey, walk in! She has been away at school and I haven't seen her in just about three months. She came in to see me and surprise me. She knows I am a workaholic and she said if the only way she could see me was to visit me at work, then she would. Number One Bestie Award! Around five oh clock my sweet friend who has been buying me coffees came in and I again, bought him his teas, and he went to the barista and gave them money to make me a coffee. Ah, he is just the sweetest! That coffee was just the kick I needed to keep me going until the end of the day. I spent my night after work eating hot dogs and french fries and sleeping. I think that's a good night!

Sunday was an early morning to head out to church with my parents. Service got out a little early so we headed out for breakfast. Afterward I went on a little drive with my dad to pick up a few things from the store (aka: going to work and getting grocceries) Then I worked a little homework and we headed out to dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday, which was yesterday.
I would just like to point out that this food was extremely BOMBDIGGITY. Nothing better than pasta and a little Italian coffee to make a night special.

On the car ride home, I got the best text message I could have ever recieved!

Confessions of a Cashier Girl: "It's a hurricane!" Edition

We all have work stories. We all have to deal with the general public. We all have to do things we don't want to do. We all have to work a millions times harder than all of our bosses combined. (ooppps, did I just say that?!) We all have one of those days. Well, folks, today was one of them.

Now, lemme break it down for you with a little 411 and some background on where I be ringing these crazy registers. I work at an Italian groccery story. Everything is very Italian. Period. The end. Case closed. Lemme show you a little bit of what my work looks like.

You name it, we have it. If you can say it with an accent, we have it. If it's made and imported from Italy, we have it. Fresh cold-cuts, meats, cheeses, olives, prepared foods along with homemade pasta, ravioli and sauces (or if you prefer, gravy) WELCOME TO ITALY.

Now, back to my crazy customers. I was talking with the owner's son about the weird wackadoodles that come into our place and we actually decided that our customers are worse than the people of Wal-Mart; and we say that in the most loving way. It keeps things interesting and fun, but sometimes I just wanna reach across my scanner and grab my customers by their throats.

Not only are our customers weird on a daily basis, but when there is bad weather coming, they get all kinds of frazzled and bent out of shape. The Eastcoast is expecting some hurricane or some silly business like that. Me? I am not worried about a thing. I got cookies, I am all set. But, these looney bins come in and they CAN NOT survive a one day gust of wind without their large loaf of Italian bread. This isn't Y2K. We are all going to live and the store will be open on Wednesday and you can come and buy all of your weekly grocceries then. Gosh, I am getting heated just talking about it.

Allow me to share you my gems of the day, and what exactly I wished I could say to them.

Customer: Do you have any spaghetti?
Me: Yes, we have linguini, bucatini, angel hair...?
Customer: I want spaghetti.
Me: Which kind?
Customer: Spaghetti.
Dear Spaghetti Woman; GO TO THE STINKING PASTA CASE AND READ THE STINKING LABEL ON THE STINKING PASTA THAT YOU STINKING WANT AND STINKING TELL ME SO I DON'T WANT TO STINKING PLAY GUESS AND CHECK WITH YOU.

Customer: Oh, it's not even busy in here!
Dear Late-Comer: That's because you just walked in at 5:45 PM when we close at 6 PM. Thanks for making me work later than I have to because you filled up three baskets when we are closing and I am the only register open. Thank you much.

Customer: Oh, you look so pretty with your hair down! Does the place make you wear it up?
Dear Mr. Loser: Thank you for letting me know that when I wear a baseball cap and my hair in a bun I am ugly, but when I wear my hair down on my lunch break I look pretty. And yes, my company requires my hair to be tied up, because I over open food, dumb butt.

Co-Worker: I'll be right back!
Dear Slacker; It's totally okay that you said that you will be right back even though I know you are going to disappear for a long period of time and just return to tell me that there was a long line at the bathroom. I know your tricks, slick.

These were just a few of my misadventures as a blonde-Italian-cashier girl.
Tell me some of your horrid work stories!

What is this feeling?!

What is this feeling, so sudden, and new?!
Yeah, I just went all Kristen Chenoweth circa Wicked all up in here. Watch me now as I snap my fingers a z formation, y'all. Mhm, I just told you! Now, back to the real issues.

I went to work yesterday like I always do, and talked with the people I always talk to and usually end up spending most of my time with my co-worker and best friend, Michele. When I went to greet Michele, when she opened her mouth, I swear Kermit the frog was living in her throat. Her voice sounded so hoarse, I could almost feel the pain whenever she would talk. Yes, friends, Michele is sick. DUN DUN DUN. Like the good bestie that I am, I bought her a water bottle and told her to get better because there is no way on this God created planet I am about to get sick. I come home, sitting around relaxing and I can't swallow. My throat hurts.

I AM GETTING SICK.
Yes, this is the feeling I was previously talking about when I was quoting the sassy Miss Chenoweth.
The thing that I vowed that I would not get, I have recieved. Thanks Michele for breathing all over me and getting me sick. Now I will have to suffer with these uncomfortable swallowing and throat pains until the real sickness rears it's ugly head. For everyone information: when you have allergies and then get sick, you feel ten times worse than anyone who is ever sick in the winter - ever. It is not a fun feeling, lemme tell ya.

What exactly is the point of this post?
SAVE YOURSELVES!
Use handsanitizer, wash your hands, drink lots of water, stay as far away from people with germs as you can. The ideal situation here would be living in a bubble. Anyone got one I could borrow for a little bit? Por favore?

Best Things In Life.

I have been going on Pinterest a lot more recently and searching through the "quotes" section and I have been seeing a few little pins about "the best things in life" and I decided that maybe I should make my own list of things that I think are just the absolute best in my little world.

Since I have been a little down in the dumps lately, I thought that maybe doing this would help me realize all the good thinds in my life and distract me from the not-so-hot things. To be totally honest, it helped. I got to thinking of all the rad things that I have in my life and that happen to me and it couldn't help but make me smile.

1. Morning text messages: I usually wake up to text messages from one of my best friends in the morning with just a "good morning, champ" or a silly, random comment that she decided to send to me to make me laugh. I like talking with people in the morning because it wakes you up a little and keeps things interesting. It also makes me feel good that someone wants to talk to me early in the morning.

2. Getting the correct coffee order: You don't know how many times I have driven away from a drive thru window in the morning and been cursing myself as I turned onto the road when I sipped my coffee and realized that THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED. The best feeling is when I take a leisurely sip and it's made just absolutely perfect! Nothing can make your day better than a good cup of coffee.

3. Making other people smile: It's the best when you can make someone's day. I like to do little things for my friends like picking up the tab on a lunch or dinner, getting them their favorite drink, writing them cute notes, etc. I like to see people happy. I have been in a constant war with a friend of mine at work because I would buy him these iced teas he loves and he would pay me back in iced coffee. I have had to be more creative in my approach so I would secretly hoard all of his favorite teas and buy them and leave notes on them, just to make him smile.

4. Getting favorited/re-tweeted on Twitter: I know this is stupid, but it makes me happy on the inside. it shows that people actually read the ridiculous things I post and that they actually agree with my nonsense! I love having those notifications come across my phone.

5. Falling asleep right away: This rarely happens for me, but I totally appreciate it when I wake up in the morning. Thank God for comfy blankets, soft pillows and teddy bears to cuddle with!

What are some little things that you enjoy and occassionally take for granted?

Wedding Wednesday.

Thanks to the ever-so-addicting Pinterest I have been obssessed with pinning. It's not a new diagnosis, but I have really become very apparent to the fact that this is a problem and I really need to stop. Am I going to stop? Hizz-eck to the no! I will keep on pinning and liking until my heart is content.

And speaking of pinning until my heart is content. Can you guess what the heck I have been addicted to pinning? Wedding things. Any and all things that have to do with a wedding. Engagement photos, wedding cakes, wedding dresses, weddings photos of happy brides and grooms, and a whole bunch of other hoopla! I even have a whole board dedicted to it! Clearly I am not going to be planning my wedding anytime soon (let's be real here), but I do love having all of this knowledge at my fingertips so that when someday (God, let the day happen eventually) when I get married, I know exactly what I want and how I want things to be.

So, I am going to share some of the favorite things that I have pinned about weddings.

(image via)
I think that this is the cutest idea! I would love on the day of my wedding for my maid of honor to hand me a cup that says bride on it! I would probably start crying right then and there, but it would be super cute and super sweet to have this happen. I mean, you are only a bride for one day, so you might as well milk it for all it's worth. Right? And even splurge and get Starbucks. (I don't know if Dunkin will be too happy with me!)

(image via)
I think that this idea is so cute! Someone takes a picture like this and sends it to the groom right before the bride is about to walk down the aisle. I think that is super sweet and will really get the groom pumped to his beautiful bride. I would so totally do this, not even gunna lie. I even saw a few photos where the bride is looking a little bit sexy and then that picture is sent to the groom aswell.

(image

Oh heavens! I think that this is hilarious. The photographer takes individual shots of the entire wedding party sort of in a "selfie" type fashion. I would so totally have my bridal party do this. Then at some point in time I will have those photos for blackmail whenever necessary.

(image via)
This photo is simply stunning! I love the all white bouquet and even though you really can't see the dress, the sparkle on top looks so gorgeous and the cap sleeves seem to really work on that dress. I also love all of the jewelry that the bride is wearing; you don't see that very often. I also like that she has simple nails, elegant and soft.

(image via)
I don't care if he doesn't like it, my groom will be in a bow-tie. There is something so classy, sophisticated, romantic and just plain out attractive when a man wear a bow-tie. Be fore-warned, future hubby. I am forcing you into a bow-tie whether you like it or not. But, let's hope you like it too.

Where in the world is Marissa?!

Where in this blue and green world am I today? Can you guess? C'mon, take a guess. I love to play these kinds of games. Alright, I will let you know, I guess.

Today I am guest posting at the always lovely and sweet Miss Margaret's blog, Floral & Frayed. I am talking about the recent events in my life and how God is just taking the wheel of my life and veering me in the right direction. I am sharing my heart and I am hoping to encourage some other ladies that may be on shaky ground now.

Go check out my post and show Margaret some love!
She is the sweetest and most adorable girl that you will ever meet.

TWINNIE'S NEW ALBUM!

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!
My twin, Taylor Swift's, album came out today! I am so excited to have it, hold it, smell it, hug it, listen to it, worship it, all of the above. It's absolute no secret that I love Taylor and it's no secret that I think I am a mini her; so I always flip the heck out whenever something happens with her. So, pardon me as I spaz out for a little while!

Songs have been releasing for the past week but I refused to listen to any of them because I always wanted the first time I listen to the songs to be from the CD; and I always buy the CD. I am not one of those people that buy the album off iTunes. I like to not only physically have the CD, but I want to contribute to the record sales. Call me crazy (or maybe...wait, what!?). So, I am soooooooooooo amped to put this puppy on my iPod and lay in my bed and listen to each song. Don't worry cool cats, you will be getting an album review later on in the week! ;)

How stinking cute is she?! Ah! I can't even take her. She is soo precious and adorable. I have no words for you, Miss Taytay.

Oh. Oh. OH. I don't take any hate on Taylor, ever. My biggest pet peeve is when people say that she isn't talented and her music makes no sense and she is immature. First of all, she is making a heck of a lot more money than you and is one of the most popular celebrities out there now, so I am pretty sure she is better off than you, haters! Second, she is talented or else she wouldn't be famous. She can sing and play the guitar and she write all of her music herself - most people in the industry don't do that anymore. Again, don't hate, appreciate. Third, she is in her early twenties which means she is still young and she is still trying to figure out herself and her life and love. So, let her talk about it in her music because she is speaking what a lot of girls can't or won't say. Taylor is so widely understood by teenagers and young adults because she is so real. So, there! (insert me snapping in a z formation)

SO IN THE MEANTIME.
You should totally go and check out the album or a few songs.
Yeah? Yeah!

We love; because God loved us.

I am a big quote girl. I love quotes and I love finding meaning in what people say.
This morning during our church service my pastor had said something that really made sense and had me pondering through out the rest of the service.

"Preach the gospel...if necessary, use words."

I thought about that and it really makes sense. We should be living our lives as an example, as a light in the darkness. We shouldn't blend in with the things around us, but stand out. My dad always tells me that when people would treat me badly it was because they deflected the light that was living inside of me and he told me that it wasn't anything personal, they just didn't want Jesus.

The more I thought about this, the more I began to think that if everything I do really shows the true love of Jesus. Everyone has some instances where they aren't as Christ-like as they should be. In my case it when customers at work ask stupid questions, when I am doing more work than my boss, when people don't know how to drive in the rain (I am sure y'all can relate, don't think I'm crazy!) But, I told myself that I am going to work on it and be the best Marissa that I can be and daughter of God I can be. Every one makes mistakes; yes. It's learning from them and growing from them is what makes us stronger. So, I that's what I am challenging you with.

Now, I will leave you with what our guest speaker told us.

"Live your life, so that the scripture may be fulfilled."

Things I Loved This Week.

Happy Friday, y'all!
Let's get right down to it! I have been showing some love to a lot of different things this week, and I decided that I would share them with all of you lovely-dovely people! Away we go!

1. American Horror Story | Not gunna lie, I only watched it this week because I knew Adam Levine was going to be guest starring. I don't pass up any opportunity to see that man on my television screen, no sir. So, when I tuned I was slightly shocked at how...well...risque the entire scene he was in was. I did watch, entertained, and then when his little camio for the moment ended, I just began to watch the entire episode. Oh Heavens. It was amazeballs. It's so creepy and weird and dark, I fell in love with the show. That will totally be one of my new Wednesday night shows!

2. Glamour Magazine | I only bought the magazine because my twinnie Taylor Swift is on the cover looking completely gorgeous and lovely. I read the article and Tay is just the sweetest little thing and adorable. And all of the pictures of her were flawless, b-dubs!

3. Michael Buble Albums | I love this man, I really do. If I could, I would have him sing me Frank Sinatra songs all night long until I went to sleep. His voice is like velvet and I feel like the heavens are opening up and angels are also joining him in song. Beautiful man, beautiful songs, beautiful time listening to his music.

4. Blogger | I have been addicted to blogger. I mean, not that I previously wasn't, but now that I am posting more and finding and connecting with more people, I have found myself always on whether I am tweeking some things on my own blog or I am reading some other wonderful ladies' blogs, I am just having a grand old time on here!

5. Iced Coffee | God, I thank you for this beautiful creation. It's no secret that I don't love coffee, but I have been drinking iced all this week. No hot coffee for this lady! I usually drink hot in the winter but the whether has been so cray-cray this past week I have been doing up the iced. Also, thanks to my cute friend from work, he bought me my favorite iced coffee as a thank you. What a sweetie pie! He already has the key to my heart. Because the way to my heart is a nice coffee. Mmmhhhmm!

6. Pandora Radio | Just go stinking listen! You will find so many songs and artists you didn't even know existed. Expand your horizons for a day!

7. Graham Cracker Goldfish | I found these little guys when I was walking through Target this week. They were on sale, had low calories and sugar, so I decided to give them a shot. They are so stinking yummy! I am pretty sure the package is almost done. Oooops! Can I blame the dog for that one?

Have a lovely Friday, ladies!

Singature Scents.

I am a perfume addict. I can buy perfume and body spray all day e'ry day. I recently just spent about a half hour walking around a Bath & Body Works store just smelling so many different sprays, lotions and candles. I wish I could work there. I would never shower, I would just wear a different spray everyday. (Just kidding, that'd be super duper gross!)

Then, I decided to compile a little list of my favorite sprays from B&BW that I like to wear and what exactly you would be smelling when I give you a bear hug. Yes, I give bear hugs to absolute anyone. I have hugged strangers. I love hugging. Okay...moving on!

All those bottles you can at B&BW for just about $14, depending upon if they are on sale, which they are very often.

I also wanted to share my favorite scents on men! I would just like to take this opportunity to share my love, my passionate love, for men's cologne. There is nothing more attractive than a wonderful smelling man. Ladies, I know you are all agreeing with me! I had a friend that whenever I would hug him I would have his scent on me all day and I would just find myself sniffing my shirt - in a totally noooooot creepy way. I love cologne so much that I even joked with my friends that I would spray my pillows with cologne before I go to sleep because of my lack of boyfriend. #desperategirlprobs

Bless you, Lauren Conrad!

I am so easily frustrated when it comes to clothes shopping. Don't get me wrong: I love to shop, I can shop until I drop and then have someone drag me around to shop some more. But, I don't like the whole trying on clothes thing. Like, is that really necessary? When something doesn't fit, I get personally offended. I have been so upset sometimes to the point of tears. (don't judge me!) It is a rare occassion when things do fit, so I have come to accept the fact that clothes and my body just don't along. Things won't fit correctly because I need clothes bigger because my shoulders are very broad but the rest of me is small, so the tops I pick end up making me look huge. I also have toothpick legs so I can't wear straigh leg jeans because then I end up looking like stick figure. Long story short: It takes me some time to find clothes that work.

But then, there was Lauren Conrad.
Oh my word. This woman was a heaven sent desginer for girls. Especially girls like me with boy-like shapes. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord.

I went into Kohl's this week to buy some new Fall/Winter clothes. My main goal was sweaters, because I only tend to have long sleeves or sweatshirts, but never really girly and pretty sweaters. I was browsing through and came across the huuuuuge LC by Lauren Conrad section and fell in love with everything. I picked up a few things and when I went to try them on - I swear it was a miracle and a heavenly choir descended from the ceiling - they all fit. What?! This just doesn't happen, but it did! I was beyond thrilled. Lauren makes the cutest clothes in the most girly and fun colors and she knows how to design things just perfectly. I love her stuff and I am so glad that her clothes fit me now! ( I guess a little weight loss helped too ;) )

I have been on a Michael Buble kick lately and I just wanted to share one of my favorite Michael songs with you. So, stand up, play the video and pretend like you are dancing all fantastically with him. I know that's what I was doing when I was watching.

Why I watch The Voice.

This show is my absolute favorite. I never miss an episode. It's an addiction and a problem and I will gladly check into some kind of singing-tv-show-addicts mental institution once the season is over. You have some of the greatest names in music working together to find the next big thing - the voice.

But, now I would just like to point out the real reason why I watch the show.

These two. Right there. They are the main reason.
Adam Noah Levine & Blake Tollison Shelton
They are too funny! Last season it was all about their bromance and now this season they are fighting and mocking each other. It's just the cutest darn thing and they are both way too stinking adorable! Adam and his cute little teenage boy ways and Blake's sweet little country twang in his voice, it makes them so precious. But, then Adam has the stubble and tattoos that are just soooo hot - I just break a sweat - and Blake's piercing blue eyes that make me melllllt.

Not to mention, I love seeing them cry and plee their case to get people on their team. I would be falling all over myself if either of them told me that they wanted me. Augh. I would pass out. No doubt. I would be drooling and crying and awkwardly laughing and I would go and tackle the heck out of them and hug them and kiss them. They would need security to pry me off. I'd be on them like white on rice.

Well, moving on now....

Can I just also point out that they both have such great music?!
My favorite song my Blake is Hillbilly Bone - don't hate, appreciate.
I can't even pick a favorite Maroon 5 song. (i am totally and completely obssessed with the band and adam, in case that's not apparent)  But, I will pick a song that Adam and the band have covered, and that would be The Way You Look Tonight.

AREN'T THEY JUST PRECIOUS?!

Studying For The Scatterbrained.

I woke up on this fabulous Sunday morning ready to take on the day. As I took my early morning shower I began to think of all the things I had to do today. I had church to attend, breakfast to eat and....and....oh, that's right! Homework to do. I tried my best to brush it off. I tried to wash that homework right out of my hair. But, none the less, when I returned back to my room, I saw all of my school books staring me in the face. I got to escape from them for a while, until I came home around noon time.

There are so many things that I wanted to do, but I knew that this homework had to get done. I wanted to get it out of the way so I had all the time in the world to do the other things I needed to do, like: paint my nails, clean out my jewelry boxes, read the new Glamour magazine with my twinnie Taylor Swift on the cover...You know, the important stuff!

At last, I sat down and started away at this hunk of reading I had to get through so I could present on it tomorrow morning at 10 AM. Let me tell you, if I hear the words liberals, war, Vietnam or President Johnson one more time, I swear, I will go absolute bonkers.

But, I am not the easiest at concentrating. It's a skill I lack, I know. I really need to work on that. Besides the point, I was staring at all these words on a page, gripping a highlighter just wanting so badly to read through some blogs or scamper out and grab a coffee. No, no, no, I kept telling myself. To shorten it all up, I got the jod done.

Now, if you are anything like me. I am going to give you my tips for studying when all you really want to do is do anything but your homework - root canal anyone?!

Tip #1: Pick a place that's comfortable for you
I was never comfortable at a desk. Never, ever, ever. I feel confined and locked in. It's just not my thing. I can't do it. I like to sit on the edge of my bed with my books all around me. I like to be relaxed, which helps me focus.

Tip #2: Set aside the proper amount of time
Don't think that you are going to be able to read fifty pages of a book in an hour. That is cray! That stuff just doesn't happen! Though we would really love it to, unfortunately, the world is not that perfect. If you know you have extensive readings, budget out the time to how long you think it would take you to read. If you are writing a paper, set yourself aside even more time so that you have time to proofread and fix any errors you may neglected.

Tip #3: Take breaks
I can't just sit down for three hours and do homework. Homegirl don't play that. I like to be able to walk around and distract myself for a little while. I like to break up the things I have to do so that I don't have so much information floating around in my little noggin, clogging up the joint. When I read, I usually budget out my time with "okay, I will take a break after I read these ten pages" and once I am finished I will get up and make another cup of tea, pet the dog and then head back to the books.

Tip #4: Avoid doing work at night
I speak from experience, you get tired at night. I know, that's a complete shock. But, hear me out. I can't work when all I think about is how tired I am and how miserable I am going to be tomorrow morning, even after a double espresso. I try not to do work past 7 PM, because that's when I start to get restless.

Tip #5: Reward yourself
Today after I finished my studying, I told myself I would bake a batch of cookies. Needless to say, I got my work done, even though my waistline was strictly refusing. Have something fun to do after you do a lot of work. When I don't idealy finish my work at 7PM, I tell myself that I will finish before 8, so I can still watch The Voice with the sexy Adam Levine.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to cuddle up with some hot tea and watch some Lifetime.

Dear Future Husband...

Today a wedding showed up at the plaza right outside my work to take some photos infront of the fountain. It was really sweet. All the bridesmaids and groomsmen were just walking around as the couple went up and stood on the little ledge of the fountain and took pictures. My co-workers and I shamelessly stood at the doors and watched everything, commenting on the dresses, the flowers and how happy the bride looked, and how young she was! So, this all got a co-worker of mine and I thinking, what qualities would your future husband need to out up with us until "death do us part".

So, here is a letter to my future husband, explaining everything in detail.

Dear Future Husband,
Thanks for coming around. It's really great to have you here, really. I have been waiting for you for a while now....not like I was desperately counting the minutes or anything. But, it's nice to know you exist. Moving on.

I kind of wanted to give you a mini-hand book on how to handle me. So, these are my own personal tips on how to succeed. I am sure that you can mess things up everyone once in a while, but don't make it too often. Follow things perfectly and we will be happy until ever after comes.

I am super sensative. Yes, I said it. I said it. I said it. I don't like to show it on the outside. I will always be smiling, but deep down inside it will be eating at me about how something may have hurt my feelings. Don't take it personally if I become really quiet and want to spend time alone. Let me be alone for a little while, and understand that I need to settle my thoughts. Trust me, when I am ready I will tell you everything you want - and don't want - to know. Have a joke ready, jsut incase I am still upset. I will laugh at just about anything slightly silly when I am in these moods.

I like surprises. Until the day I die I will say I don't like them, but I do. I am not telling you to send me flowers every other day or something strange like that. I like recieving surprises, sure, why not. More so, I like to surprise people. I like to do random things for people. So, don't be surprised if you wake up one morning and find new clothes in your closet, or your favorite coffee brewing in the coffee pot. Just smile and hug me. That's all. I just want to see people happy. Show me you are happy, and the surprises will continue. Don't be too expectant though, mister!

I love hugs. I love snuggling. I love to cuddle. Please, just, deal with me. I will rest my head on your shoulder and just watch TV with you all day long, I will even let you watch what you want! Just as long as I can lean on you or hug you.

I can promise you that no matter what, I will always love you. That, is a guarantee. So, let's do this, okay?

And by noooooo means is this a full list on what to expect when you are getting married to me. But, these are just some of the many wonderful things you will find out about me ;)

Let's meet soon, ok?

Love,
Your Future Wife

Thinking Alone.

I have been spending a lot of time alone this week. I have kind of closed myself off to spending time with people. I have thinking alot and collecting my thoughts, and just doing a lot of over-analyzing, which is never really the most wonderful thing a girl can do in her spare time; but it's what I have been up to.

I am not even really sure what all of my thoughts have been about, but I have been doing a lot of aimless and pointless thinking about silly things like, what my wedding will look like, what my life would be like if I lived in the 1950's, what would I look like with red hair. Silly things are clogging up the space in my brain that is reserved for rational thoughts, which is causing me to be in somewhat of a fog.

With all of my many thoughts, I am not really extremely comfortable with sharing them fully with other people, because I feel like I am revealing too much about myself. I like to leave a little air of mystery to me ;) But, I love the company of other people, because I don't like spending all of my time alone, all of the time. That would just get sickening and way too depressing for me. Spending time with people is one of my favorite things, but I sometimes just want someone to sit down with me, drink a cup of coffee and not talk for fifteen minutes but maybe play on our phones and just have a few silent minutes to ourselves before we can talk about the attractive kid that is in our seminar class or how hard that dance was in Zumba last night.

I love people and I love conversation with people. But sometimes, I wish they would all just shut up.

It's just another manic....Tuesday?!

This weekend, was just so incredibly hectic. I work in the city and this weekend they shut down one of the main streets in the Italian neighborhood and have a big feast in honor of Colombus. The feast starts on Saturday morning and ends on Monday night. Everyone had to work open to close for the three day weekend; but ofcourse in my case, I have been working every day since last Tuesday, and I have to work today. 8 DAY WORK WEEK?! I don't think I can do this anymore.

Fortunately, I have no classes on Tuesdays, so I was able to sleep in and just relax. But, I would wake up this morning with a poinding headache and no voice. Wonderful, right?! So, I decided to try and relax to the maximum before another five hour shift ontop of my 46 hour week prior.

So, this is how I am relaxing this morning.

Tea: I am a tea drinker until the end. It is my go-to whenever I am feeling anything less than perfect. And now that I especially don't have a voice, I need something to soothe my throat. A few dozen cups should get to me atleast get my voice to a squeeky tone, atleast.

Blankets: I love being cuddled up in my bed and just warm and cozy. I could just lay in my bed with a Michael Buble playlist on and just lay there and relax. I love blankets and the cuter the pattern, the better ;)

Lifetime Network: Thank God for Dance Moms marathons! I love Lifetime and I could watch all of their shows forever. Lifetime knows how to do it and how to entertain me.

What do you do when you need to relax from a long weekend?!

Link-Up: Sunday Social.

Linking up with the lovely A Complete Waste Of Makeup for their Sunday Social!

The topic today is all about Fall things! Considering I have been featuring all of my blogger friends and all the things that they love about Fall, I am going to tell you about a few of the many things that I love about Fall!

Fall Scenery: I used to have a huge maple tree in my front yard and last year my family cut it down because it was causing a hassle with the underground plumbing. I was so sad when we had to get rid of it because it had the prettiest leaves and I loved going outside and sitting in them and playing with them - being the total five year old that I am. I think that the red and orange leaves are so pretty. I could see Fall scenes all the time for the rest of my life.

Pumpkin Pie: I love pumpkin pie so much it's not even funny. I think that anything can be made better if you have a slice of pie with a little whipped cream. Yum-o, baby!

Pumpkin Lattes: I can drink pumpkin flavored coffee from ANYWHERE. Starbucks, Dunkin, local coffee shops. I can drink anything flavored with pumpkin. Hot coffee, iced coffee, lattes either hot or iced.

Fall Fashion: I love the clothes that I can wear in this weather. I like scarves, hats, gloves, boots, etc. I love being bundled up, warm and cozy in a sweatshirt and sweatpants with fuzzy socks on, watching silly movies. Clothes really set the mood for your day and I love Fall clothes to be cozy.

SWAG: She Wants A Gentleman.

I have been thinking about this topic a lot lately, considering I have been in a few situtations where I can talk more elaborately on the topic. I am going to talk about it, ladies. Men. And how they should act and treat us ladies.

In my English class a few days ago we were talking about how back in the day, when a man liked a woman he would know by a particular glance she would give him or the way she would act around him, or he would openly profess that he had some interest in her. In order to win her affection, he would, say, compete in competitions and wear her favorite colors, he would buy her things, compliment her, etc. Can I ask, where is that now?!

In today's standards, a guy telling a girl she is "sexy" or "hot" can spark a flame and turn into a relationship. Do you want to know why that happens? Because girls have no self-respect, and are some times in need (or desperate) to want the attention of a man. Well, ladies, I am here to tell you that a guy should have to do more than look at you and say "dang, girl" before you are all over him, and in love. You need to see what's really going through his head and what he wants from you. Guys are 99.9% pigs. Watch them.

More possitive outlooks, I have good news. THERE ARE GENTLMEN OUT THERE. It just takes a lady a while to see through the outer charm and see the guys real heart of gold. You need to look for a man that will call you "beautiful" and "gorgeous" instead of "sexy" and "hot". You want a man that will hold the door open for you. A man that will open your car door and put out his hand to help you out. A man that will help you out in any situtation; carry something heavy, be there to listen when you need to talk, etc. You just got to look ladies, they are out there.

Now, ladies. I have a bone to pick with YOU. Stop letting men treat you like garbage! You are a woman, a lady, a princess. If a man doesn't treat you like that, then you should seriously reconsider. You want to be happy, not constantly miserable. Don't get into a relationship just because of looks, status or anything superficial either. Yes, sometimes those things do play a role, but make sure that he is a good person on the inside, then on the outside. Be patient too! The man of your dreams will come soon. Cinderella had to clean a lot of furniture before she met Prince Charming! Fill your time with things and then the man will find you!

I absolutely love Fall! It's my favorite time of year, well after Christmas time of course. I'm from North Carolina, so we rarely really get a fall, however we do get some of the prettiest fall colors on our trees.
So, let's talk Fall.
Scarves, hot chocolate, the State Fair, Pumpkins (the real thing & the candy) & fall colors!
Scarves

Proof! This was me a few days ago, it was still 72 degrees outside :)
Girl loves a scarf! (oh I call myself girl quite a bit)
As soon as it gets the tiniest bit chilly, I wear a scarf. Not to keep me warm of course, but for the extra accessory! And what's worse, I buy them like they are going out of style. Some may or may not still have the tags on them.

Hot Chocolate
I love Starbucks. But I hate coffee. I know, I know, shoot me.
& no I do not like the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Starbucks has AMAZING hot chocolate and it's even worth paying $4.00 for a Grande!

Don't you think Starbucks should come out with a fall cup? See - love Christmas time too!

The NC State Fair
I haven't been to multiple state fairs, so I'm just going off what I know from our own. It's coming up in like 10 days and I'm ecstatic! I try to go AT least twice while it's here. Oh and I go solely for the fair food, AKA fried oreos. You will not find me on those rides. I mean c'mon! They put them together in a day ya'll - totally not safe!
AHHHHH (that is angels singing in case you didn't know)

Pumpkins
How can we talk about fall and not mention a pumpkin? Those orange gourds are the cutest things ever! Normally I carve it, but I think this year we will go a little more girly and paint/monogram it!
Totally precious right?
And now, maybe my favorite thing...
These babies.
Mellowcreme Pumpkins
Remember we just started October right? And although every store under the sun has had these babies since August for a few weeks, I'm on my second big bag of them and I'm almost ready for another one.
I don't like candy corn though. I know...weird right?

Remember how I mentioned the gorgeous fall colors we see here in NC?

Fall Colors
As in the leaves...
This would be in Brevard, NC
PS I'm a bad North Carolinian, I have no idea where Brevard is and I got this off Google, but hey it still gets the point across right?
I don't wanna die trying to take a picture of the pretty leaves while driving down the road!

What are your fall favorites?

Thanks again Marissa for letting me take over your blog :)
