Over. Over. Over.

I am the first to admit it: I need third, fourth and fifth opinions before I do something. I need to ask everybody and their brother, and if that brother has another friend or animal around, I will also ask them. I just need verification or support for the decision I am going to make. It may be something as little as a pair of heels - no wait, I always buy the heels, no matter what - or whether I should go up and talk to a guy that I think is cute. Everyone's opinion is welcome. Whether I listen to them is a totally different story. I like to see what other people think and get some different views on things. But, essentially, I will always do what I want. Whether I spend $30 on heels I don't need, or want to vomit the entire time I am talking to that attractive male.

See, that's easy to say, right?
I do what I want.
I like to say "I do what I want" and think that I am actually doing what I want. But, am I actually letting other people affect my choice? That, I don't know. Is it possible? Abso-stinking-lutely. But, I am currently trying to make a conscious effort to (really) do what I want. Yes, I will always ask for other people to chime in and tell me what they think, but I am not going to let me persuade me to do something I don't want to do. Why? Because, I do what I want. Not what you want. Not want my friends want. Not what Taylor Swift wants. Not what your dog wants. What I, Marissa Faith, wants.

I found this little mantra on Pinterest and I couldn't have agreed more, so clearly I had to make a little word graphic, you know. I am finally going to do what makes me happy, and do what I want. I don't care if I look like a fool or wear heels too high I fall over. I will do it, learn from it and move on.

Anyone else with me?

Running with the big dogs.

I have been having this inner struggle for a while now, but I guess I just got to really thinking and talking about it lately. I thought I would share it because, maybe other people are feeling the same way, or maybe I am just being crazy and thinking way too much - I have been taking a ton of showers lately, and that is where I do my best thinking. But, anyways: I have been thinking about how I am a little dog, trying to run with the big ones. Woof, woof.

Ever since I was little, I was always friends with people older than me, and I tend to get along better with people who are older. I don't know why, but I always did and always do. I would either be able to act older, maybe I was just more mature, or I would bring out the childish side in the other people. When I was young, all my friends were atleast 2+ years older than me. Not only were my friends older, but so were all my cousins in my family. I was the baby everywhere I looked. Now, when I am a few months shy of nineteen, I keep looking around me and seeing that I am still just a pup compared to all the big dogs around me.

In my group of close friends, I am the second-youngest, even though we are only seperated by months in most cases. I am the youngest grandchild on my mother's side of the family, which is the side we are closest to. I am one of the younger members of the staff at work; when I first started almost four years ago I actually was the youngest at the ripe-old age of fifteen. And now here, in blogland, I am one of the youngest bloggers that I have come in contact with. I am forever trying to be a big dog, but I can't measure up. I will always be young.

I find it hard because I don't see myself as younger, and most of the people I hand around with think the same of me. Michele, who is turning twenty in just two weeks, always thinks that I am her age.  Maybe it's because I am more mature than a typical eighteen year old? Maybe it's the way I carry myself? Maybe it's the way I talk and use my speech? I am not totally sure what it is, but I just know that in my head, I don't think of myself as being young, or younger, for that matter. I see myself as being on an equal playing field. I get along with people of all ages, and can be comfortable with them, and vice-versa. I sometimes like to consider myself ageless. I conform to the age that I am around. If I need to be serious with a fifty year old, be playful with a two year old, be flirty with a twenty year old or be silly with a teenager.

I have become frustrated with the idea of age and putting people into categories based on age. I actually came across a wonderful quote that sums up how I am feeling about all of this:

"Age is an issue of mind over matter.
If you don't mind, it doesn't matter."
- Mark Twain

Tuesday Tunes.

If you are anything like me, you have been jamming out to "Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars every time it comes on the radio. I am not going to lie: I dashboard drum and whip my hair back and forth to this song whenever I hear it along my travels. The worst thing I ever did was download the song to my iPhone. It's on my "running playlist" and whenever it comes on, I always think of the Victoria's Secret fashion show and how amazing those girls looked. It gives me some motivation to run my Nikes a little faster on the treadmill.

It's no secret that I love Bruno Mars. He is a handsome litle devil who can sang. His little fedoras and island jams always make me happy. So, when I knew his album was coming out I was determined to get it - or at least listen to it. I have listened to the whole album on Spotify numerous times, but I never got around to buying it: that is, until this week. I finally obtained the album on my iPhone and I am just so totally obssessed with it. So, Bruno Mars is going to be the theme of today's Tuesday Tunes. I don't think you all will mind, right?

When I Was Your Man | Bruno Mars
Currently, I am pretty sure evry female all over the world is obssessed with this song. I mean, they have good reason. This song got me the first time I heard it. I got a little choked up and say him banging it out on the piano and I just shed a little tear for him. I just wanted to hug him and tell him that everything is going to be okay and he can buy he flowers, hold my hand and spend his hours with me.

Natalie | Bruno Mars
I am pretty sure it's the beat that has me loving this song. It sounds like a revenge country song, but it's Bruno Mars. I don't know the proper words to describe this song. It reminds me of that Maroon 5 song Ladykiller. I am not sure why, but it does. It's just a good jam and Bruno is just flawless with his vocals all over the joint.

Show Me | Bruno Mars
One of the main reasons why I love Bruno is because he has such a wonderful range. He can sing pop music, he can go soul and gospel and then he can do this island-reggae stuff. I personally love the feel of this song and how it makes me want to be laying in the sun somewhere getting a killer tan as he just sings this to me. Again, this is also coming from the girl who likes "I shot the sherrif".

Why don't you sit back, grab a drink and have Bruno transport you to a beautiful island paradise with his voice, and all of his hooligans.

Weekend Shenanigans: Movies, Studying & Shopping.

Happy March & Happy Monday!

Since I actually did some post-worthy things this weekend, I thought that I would share them here with you all, and link up with Miss Sami over at her blog for the Weekend Shenanigans. So, I am going to get this little show on the rode, if I may.

Friday night was the epitome of "dinner and a movie". I got out of work around six and then I had to rush home and shower and see my friend who was coming over at six-thirty. For the next hour she proceeded to watch me get dressed and we rushed to the plaza where we flew into Five Guys, grabbed a few burgers, fries and sodas, proceeding to then race to the cinema just in time to make it to the movie. Somehow we managed to shove two burgers, fries, stand up a soda and shove candy into our purses. We made it and enjoyed the movie 21 and Over, which was funny as heck. Added bonus that the attractive Astin Skylar from Pitch Perfect was in the film.

I got a pleasant surprise on Friday night when I saw that a good, old friend of mine was alive active on his Instagram account! He wasn't much of a social media guy, and he barely answered texts, so I was surprised to see him active online. After I saw the photo, I took my messages and texted him quick, totally preparing myself for no response - and I was totally surprised. I got to talking with him for an hour and we caught up a little are planning to make plans with our other friends so we can all be together again and have a little re-union.

My little "waiting in the car before heading into work" selfie & the coffee that keeps me rocking, rolling and packing that pasta like a champ: a beautiful, medium dark chocolate mocha. That's heaven in a cup.

Sunday I decided to finally buckle down and get ready for my mid-term exams that start this week. I went out and bought two packs of 200 count flashcards from the Dollar Store and got to work. I wrote Italian words until they all blended together. That is a current photo of the stack, and I wasn't even done yet. After going through half of the Italian vocabulary, I decided to text a friend and take a little break and browse arond Target. My shopping plan to not spend more than $5 on one item. Misson accomplished! Check out the deals I got: bracelets for $1.08 - because when they are that cheap, you get one in every color - and the socks for $1.99.

I spent my night around the table eating dinner with my parents and grandfather. I snuck away afterwards to paint my toes and nails. I love this color, boxershorts by Essie. It makes me think of springtime, which I am more than excited and ready for. After that, I spent a little time with the pup, who wouldn't look at me because she was too busy trying to catch table scraps. She's such a diva!

I rounded out my Sunday night watching "The Amazing Spiderman" drooling over how totally adorable Andrew Garfield is, while eating a Cadburry Creme Egg. Oh, the life.

Friday Fun: A "FUN" iPhone wallpaper.

Since this week I have been very musical & uplifting, I decided to make an inspirational iPhone wallpaper for this week's Friday Fun, using uplifting song lyrics. How amazing am I at combining different topics? No need for applause, though it is more than welcome.

My cousin Rachel has gotten me obssessed hooked on FUN's new song "Carry On". When I saw it at the Grammy's, I fell in total love with the song. The lyrics are totally great, and a wonderful current anthem for me. I wanted to share this awesome song with you guys, and also uplift you.
